Replace, Cover, or Refinish? – Part 1

marchblog1You’ve reached the point in the life of your home where you are no longer happy with the bathroom. Perhaps it’s outdated, maybe it looks dingy, or maybe you simply want a change. When it comes to remodeling your tub or shower, you have three options: completely replace it, cover it, or refinish it. This handy guide goes over the pros of each method. In the next blog post, we will discuss the cons.

Replacement

The good thing about completely replacing your tub is that it is brand new. You can completely change the design of your bathroom to make sure it is modern and aesthetically pleasing. You can choose any materials you want no matter what the old tub was made of. A brand new tub can also last a significantly long time.

Cover

Placing a cover over your old tub and wall will only take one day. It can cost anywhere from $1,000-$3,000 depending on if you’re only covering the tub, or if a wall is included. It also allows you to make major design changes to your bathroom, although not as much as a replacement. These covers can last 5-10 years.

Refinishing

Tub refinishing in Atlanta is very cost effective at only $300-$650 depending on if you want to include the walls in your refinishing or not. You only have to spend two days without your tub, and it only takes one worker to complete. A refinish will last you for anywhere from 10-15 years. There is also much less dust and debris than the other methods. This method retains the look and feel of the original fixtures.
